The salon was ready a couple of days before the planned launch event and we wanted to make sure that we captured all the details that the new owners had poured their hearts and souls into. To accomplish this, we arranged a separate visit so we could photograph the salon while it was empty.
We focused on capturing both wide and detailed shots so that the team would have a huge library of images that they can deploy on their website and social media channels for many months to come. This is a bright and funky glam bar run by a group of smart and stylish young people and so social media is at the heart of everything that they do. With this in mind, we took some time to create some close up images of the salon’s talking pieces (think hanging flowers, jungle foliage, custom neon…) that can be used as backdrops to liven up those little Instagram squares or create the perfect background for a Facebook promo. That way they can get their message out there while still preserving their brand integrity. Our second visit was to cover the launch event itself which we already knew would be well attended, thanks to the great marketing that the team had carried out and the promise of goody bags and cocktails on tap. We spent time before the guests began to arrive to capture the salon all set up and ready for the party and also took the opportunity to capture individual head shots of each team member while they were all in their pristine uniforms and made up for the occasion.
We then stayed for the start of the event to capture some of the atmosphere as the salon filled up fast with excited clients ready to see what That Glam Bar had to offer them. We kept this coverage very relaxed and unobtrusive as we captured the team and guests enjoying their night and all the facilities and treats that were on offer to them.
Despite the salon directors and their team all being very proficient in creating their own images of their work normally, it was a great choice for them to book a professional photographer for the launch event. Having someone there who is solely focused on capturing professional images freed them up to greet their clients, explain more about the services that they will be offering and actually relax and enjoy the event that came, for them, after a lot of work in the previous weeks to get everything ready.
